Mike was born march 27th in Calgary, Alberta to Debbie and Steven.
From the beginning, Mike was always taught how to act with people. Due
to his family's history, he became very social, very fast. He learned
the ropes of the sales industry, and gained a keen knowledge about people
and skills surrounding them. This helped him watch and understand his
peer's emotions and character which he always takes a strong interest
in. After his parents split he was relocated to Ottawa, Ontario where
he spent the rest of his childhood.
Growing up he was always a fan of entertainment. Along with his brother and two cousins, they would put on shows for pretty much anyone who would watch them. This was fun for everyone, but Mike took a greater interest and took each performance more and more seriously. When he was 12 years old he took on his first role in theatre. He portrayed the role of "Fritz" in "The Nutcracker". He loved the stage so much, that the next year, after relocating to Vancouver, B.C he took to the stage again, this time in a musical called "Ratz". A show loosely based on the Broadway show Cats. His love for theatre kept growing and growing, it looked like nothing would get in its way, but another relocation exactly a year after brought him back to Ottawa, where he turned away from acting and into music. After playing bass guitar playing in a couple local Ottawa bands that did pretty well for themselves, Mike finally fell back into acting. But it wasn't exactly by choice, more by fate.
At 16 Mike was in the 11th grade. His current band was going through a rough time and he needed a change. At this time his school was also holding auditions for the upcoming musical. He had never sung on stage or in front of a large crowd for that matter, but he thought it'd be funny to try out. In the end, he got a small part in "The Wiz", but with a solo. As much as a surprise as this was, he fell in love with the production, and the people he was working with. This show changed his life, and set him on a new path. The next year, he auditioned again, this time achieving the lead role of "Daniel" in the Broadway musical "Once on this Island". This was it, he became hooked on acting.
After graduation, Mike set out to Vancouver B.C to begin his career. Knowing nothing about the business, he talked to everyone he could, and got a few small parts here and there in various independent films. He began taking theatre classes and a short workshop that was being held at the Vancouver Film School. His interest became not only about acting, but behind the scenes as well. After spending a while out west, he headed back to Ottawa, still holding his passion. Just when he was about to make yet another move to Toronto, he met a few friends. One in particular helped Mike understand the pieces that he was missing. He always pushed him in the right direction and taught him the things that he was unsure of. Eventually he got him signed up for some more classes. This time the classes became more intense, and Mike was able to see just what "acting" was really all about.
After a while, his list of credits began to grow, and show did he. He has studied with various coaches both from Ottawa and Vancouver. He has taken multiple intensive workshops with instructors Claudia Jurt (A.C.T. Ottawa) and Michele Lonsdale Smith (Lyric School of Acting, Vancouver). As well as on and off screen workshops with Toronto Casting directors. He has 2 upcoming films, "Seeds" directed by Miles Finlayson (Connections, Summer) and "Fear of the Living Dead" directed by Randy Smith (Smash Cut). He is currently re occurring on the YTV series "Family Biz" as Eli's Buddy, and he has some more projects yet to come.
